It features racing from the Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND around the 1970 racing season. It was originally shot on 8mm film.

Are you ready for the 2013 racing season? The Racing Life is. But with all the snow STILL on the ground here in North Dakota is seems like spring will never get here. So to get you in the mood… we made this video. It was a NASCAR commercial that we re-edited with a dirt track twist. It’s a short recap of some of the best video from the last 3 years of traveling to the area tracks for The Racing Life.

A brief but heavy rainstorm at 4:30pm had Tony Stewart Night in doubt at Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND. But the Schatz family went all out to make sure the track was as dry and smooth as it could be. Despite missing the final transfer spot in his heat, NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart went on to win the B-main giving him a 16th place starting position in the A-main. He worked his way around traffic and some developing holes in the track to come home in a solid 7th place finish in his Rocket Chassis Late Model prepared by #50 Late Model driver Jeff Wildung. This was Stewart’s 3rd Late Model race at the Speedway. In his first appearance in 2010 he finished 3rd and in 2011 he crashed shortly after starting the race.

On the last lap of his heat race, NASCAR Champion Tony Stewart gets passed for the last transfer spot by #12 Brad Seng going into turn 4.

Since we’re coming to the last episode of The Racing Life on Saturday, I thought I’d dig up some of the first home videos I’ve ever shot at the race track. It was 1997 and I was 21 years old and pitting for #84 WISSOTA Modified driver, Greg Johnson. I’d been on his crew since I was about 10 or 11 along with my Dad. Most of the video is from Red River Valley Speedway in West Fargo, ND and at the end you’ll see video of Buffalo River Speedway in Glyndon, MN following the #18 Mini-Stock of Matt Greseth. The video is pretty raw and you’ll notice the camera work hasn’t changed much over the years.
